Benefits of exfoliation

Posted on 24 May 2008 by admin

To start with a little bit of information, exfoliation is a technique where the layer of the dead epidermal cells on the outer surface of the skin is removed. The purpose is to remove the dead ones to bring to surface the fresher, living cells.

For beginners, the most beneficial impact of exfoliation is that it brings out fresher and brighter looking skin. Exfoliation is generally regarded as one of the best ways to keep the skin soft and looking young. The removal of dead skin cells and excess dirt adds a nice glow to the skin and keeps the fine lines away.

A regular and moderate routine of exfoliating has also been found effective in controlling acne. This is mainly because it helps to keep the pores open and hence prevents formation of blackheads, whiteheads and the like. However, care should be taken to try out an exfoliating routine several times, before you settle down to a particular regimen.
